AGNES ANN PAIVA
A devout Christian lady and our dear mother, grandmother, and sister, passed peacefully into the eternal embrace of the Lord on December 26th, at Landmark Medical Center from complications of COVID-19, after a brief period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late James Huling for 30 years until his passing in 1997.
Born in East Providence, RI on November 5, 1927 to the late John and Eliza (Tavares) Paiva, Agnes was raised in a traditional and loving home together with her seven siblings, only one of whom survive her, Gloria Ferguson, now residing in Florida. She is predeceased by her brothers Frank, John, and Dennis Paiva, and her sisters, Mary Ramsden, Isabel Marot, and Elizabeth Mouio.
Following her education in the East Providence School System, Agnes began a career in retail sales at the former Boston Store where she met and soon married her work associate, James Huling. Thereafter, she began her life-long career as loving wife, devoted mother, and dedicated homemaker. Content being home and raising her family, Agnes was an immaculate housekeeper and an excellent cook, taking great pride her prized Portuguese dishes, especially her linguica, chorizo & peppers, and many others.
Purple was always her color of choice when it came to fashion and home décor. She loved the beach, Bingo outings, and Casino trips with her long-time friend and companion, John. She also enjoyed quiet times with family and friends and watching TV game shows. Agnes and her family truly appreciated the friendships and compassion experienced during her final years at Trinity Health Center in Woonsocket.
She is survived by her beloved sons Jim, Gregg, Steve, and Tom Huling; her dear daughter, Cheryl Nunes; her cherished grandchildren, Derek, Hilary, Hannah, James, Gregg, Jr., Stephen (“Tiger”), Alex, Daniel, Jake, Rhonda, Ronald (“RJ”), Leah, Cate, and Maya; and her adored great-grandchildren, Jack and Annie. She was predeceased by her son Bruce.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Berarducci Home & Cremation Care Center, 185 Spring Street, Woonsocket. Services will be private.
