Obituary for Amalia Choptovy

AMALIA G. CHOPTOVY

Amalia Gloria (Mattera) Choptovy, age 94, affectionately known as ‘Mollie’, passed peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Cherry Hill Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Johnston where she has resided since 2007. She was the widow of Leo Choptovy, Sr., who predeceased her in 2009.

Born in Johnston on August 29, 1926, to Nicola and Mary (Ciaramello) Mattera, she was the youngest - and last surviving - of five siblings who were born in the United States following her parents’ immigration from Naples, Italy. She was raised in a loving and traditional ‘Italo-American’ home and educated in her beloved Town of Johnston.

A devoted wife and mother, Mollie was the epitome of an Italian homemaker, nurturing her children, keeping her home impeccably clean, and always cooking and baking-from-scratch a potpourri of Italian staples and a variety of her special dishes, all made with love.

Besides her beloved husband Leo, Amalia was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Aultman, who passed away in 2004, and her siblings, Laura Albanese, Anthony Mattera, Mary DiBasio, and Madeleine Delfino. May they all rest in peace.

Mourning her passing and surviving her are her son and daughter-in-law, Leo, Jr. and Lynn (Clanton) Choptovy ; her grandchildren, Lynn Tomasetti, Daniel Corcoran, and Jordan Choptovy; her great-grandchildren, Logan, Miranda, and Kyle Tomasetti; a great-great-grandchild, Elliana Tomasetti; a host of nieces and nephews including Fran DiBasio and Rosemarie Dupuis; and her caring ‘Cherry Hill family’ to whom a profound debt of gratitude is owed by Mollie’s appreciative family.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Berarducci Home, Providence.
