Obituary for Anastasia Alix

Anastasia Alix, 99, passed peacefully into eternal life on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield following a brief period of declining health. A loving mother to Jeffrey A. Alix of Harrisville, she was the beloved wife of the late Gerald A. Alix and the mother of the late Gerald A. Alix, Jr.

Born in Pawtucket on March 28, 1922, to Joseph and Josephine (Karpice) Wilbik, she spent most of her life in Pawtucket as a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and home maker. A caregiver by nature, she worked for many years as a nursing assistant (CNA) at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital until retiring. Following her official retirement, Anastasia served several more years there ministering to and comforting patients experiencing mental health difficulties. She was highly regarded as a reliable, capable, calming, and effective practitioner and will always be remembered for her compassionate care and noble work.

Of Lithuanian decent, she kept an orderly and impeccably clean home and she particularly enjoyed cooking (and eating!), often making various ethnic and other specialty dishes for her family and herself. Although failing eyesight slowed her a bit, she was truly a remarkable woman, remaining fiercely independent and feisty through her 100th year! Her awesome sense of humor, sharpness of mind, unflappable directness, and (sometimes dry) wit endeared her to many by whom she’ll be sorely missed.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the newly appointed Pastor, Rev. Fr. Joshua Barrow, on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in Pawtucket, followed by burial in the family lot at Notre Dame Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to the Berarducci Home, Woonsocket. Condolences may be left at [ProvidenceCremation.com].
