Obituary for Anthony Vitacca

Anthony Vitacca, 94, of Providence, passed away on November 29, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Ficocelli) who predeceased him in May, 2018.

Anthony was born in Naples, Italy, on May 15, 1928 to Nicola and Assunta Vitacca and raised in a traditional Italian home together with his (now deceased) brother, Genaro. Prior to relocating to the United States in 1955, Anthony served his home country with pride in the Italian Army.

Hard-working and responsible, he maintained a decades-long career in the jewelry industry, rising through the ranks to Foreman and finally retiring from the renowned Trifari Manufacturing Company. He also held various part-time/‘second job’ positions at various times throughout his career in order to better provide for his family.
He was a faithful and active parishioner at the former St. Thomas Church in Providence and enjoyed membership in the St. Bart’s Club. Always active and athletic, he enjoyed playing Bocce, Bowling, and watching Italian Soccer games. He was an excellent cook, known for his Italian specialties, especially spaghetti & clam sauce; he took particular delight at hosting “La Vigilia” each Christmas Eve.

Anthony leaves a daughter, Susan, son, Nicholas and his wife, Lisa, and five grandchildren including Arianna and Nicholas Vitacca, II.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 5th at the Berarducci Home, corner of Knight & Grove Streets, Providence, beginning with visitation at 9:30a.m. followed by a funeral cortege to St. Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston for committal services and entombment in The Risen Christ Mausoleum. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
