Obituary for Antoinette 'Toni' (Gaeta) Agliata

Our dear mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on August 8, 2021 after a long illness.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was raised in a traditional and loving Italo-American home in Garwood, NJ, during the mid 1940’s. Following graduation from Springfield Regional High School in 1949, she worked in a department store where she met her husband, Vincent G. Agliata. They moved to Rahway, NJ where they raised three boys.

Antoinette worked as a teachers’ aide and as an expert soup cook in the local high school. She loved to cook, especially Italian food, and spent as much time as she could with her family. An avid and prolific knitter, she made many wonderful creations for her family and friends.

Antoinette is predeceased by her husband, Vincent G. Agliata, and a daughter-in-law, Elaine Gouras. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-laws, Vincent T. Agliata (Kathleen Pavlakis), Thomas Agliata( Doreen Bernade-Agliata), and Robert T. Agliata (Josephine Sessa-Agliata), and six grandchildren, Peter (Emily Kister), Katharine, Ethan, Leah, Vincent, and Chaz.

Services and burial are respectfully private.
