Obituary for Arlene Miozza
Our dear mother, grandma, and sister, Arlene Miozza, passed peacefully into the eternal embrace of the Lord on November 18th at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. Born in Providence on September 9,1937 to the late Harold and Helen (Bromley) Benway, Arlene was raised in a traditional and loving home together with her three siblings. A proud graduate of Cranston High School, East, she lived most of her life in Cranston, having just recently relocated to North Scituate to be with family. During what were to be her final months, she found contentment in admiring the beautiful flowers and ever-present wildlife, and the many joys and pure serenity in the peacefulness of country living.
Blessed with determination, confidence, and an old-fashioned work ethic typical of ‘those days’, Arlene went on to a decades-long and successful career in the jewelry industry, especially enjoying her labors and co-workers at Cellini Jewelers throughout the 1970’s and later at UBIO, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 2010.
Following retirement, she remained focused, sharp, and happy through her enjoyment of reading books of all genre, and was particularly keen on keeping current with local and world news. In addition to having been a hard worker, Arlene was a dedicated homemaker for all of her life. Her time in the kitchen would frequently yield some of the best-tasting confections made with only the finest of ingredients including love. Her holiday ‘Butterball’ cookies were legendary; also cherished were her cheesecakes, layer cakes, and a variety of Chex Mixes.
Arlene will be sorely missed but fondly remembered; she will always and forever remain in the hearts and minds of loved ones, near and far. Mourning Arlene’s passing are her sons, Michael (wife Barbara) and Ralph Miozza, both of Cranston; her daughters, Jeanne LeClair (Marco Schiappa) of North Scituate, and Charlene Sherman (husband Earl) of Cranston; grandchildren, Joseph, Kimberly, Gina, Noelle, and Nathan Miozza, and Janessa and Joseph LeClair; great-grandchildren, Alani, Bella, and Gianna; and brother, Ernest (wife Joan) Benway in Ohio. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Miozza; brother, Harold Benway; and sister, Joyce Dellefemine.
Due to current conditions, services are private. Prayers for the repose of her soul and kind thoughts of Arlene would be appreciated, as would any random act of kindness done in her honor or donations made to a charity of one’s choosing.
