Obituary for Billy Joe Hines
A good and loving man, a dear husband, father, and friend is gone too soon. Following a brief period of declining health, Billy Joe Hines, 62, of Kennedy Manor, Woonsocket, and originally from Indiana, passed peacefully into the eternal embrace of the Lord on Thursday, January 21, 2021, with caring staff at Landmark Medical Center by his side. Despite Billy Joe’s courage and strength and the expert care he received there and also at the Dialysis Center of Woonsocket, his passing is attributed to complications exacerbated by COVID-19 which he just could not overcome.
Born on January 23, 1958 in Paris, Illinois to the late William and Anna (McCloud) Hines, he was raised and educated there together with his six siblings, all of whom have predeceased him.
Industrious and hard-working, Billy Joe enjoyed a long and distinguished career in construction, fence fabrication, and some would even include fence mending! Always positive, cheerful, and happy-go-lucky, he was an affectionate man who was comfortable showing his emotions, especially his love for family and friends.
An avid collector of ‘anything Santa’, he was enamored with antiquing, spending countless hours browsing the aisles of shops near and far away. More recently, movie watching and scenic rides in the countryside accompanied by his dear Rita – his wife and best friend – were pure pleasure.
Inseparable during their 37 wonderful years together, Billy Joe and Rita spent much quality time with family and friends and simply enjoying each other and savoring precious moments which now become treasured memories.
He will be remembered for his lightheartedness, sense of humor, and gentle smile and will always be admired for his courage, tenacity, genuine goodness, loyalty, work ethic, and many skills and accomplishments.
In addition to his beloved wife Rita (Blais) Hines, survivors include his loyal Kennedy sons, Ralph(Penny) in Auburn, MA, and Robert(Carrie) in Douglasville, GA; six grandchildren; three great-grand- children; brothers-in- law, Rene Blais in North Kingstown and Roger (Joyce) in Georgia; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Undoubtedly, Billy Joe’s message from above would be borrowed from Debby Boone’s classic “...You give me hope to carry on...you light up my days and fill my nights with song”. And the collective response back to him would be: “you, too, lit up our lives; thanks for the memories, now rest in peace”
In honor of the outstanding service and compassion provided by the caring staff at the ARA Dialysis Center of Woonsocket during the past few years, memorial donations to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike – Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852, would be appreciated.
