Obituary for Carl Nelson

OBITUARY of CARL NELSON

Carl Olaf Nelson, 76, beloved husband of Christine (Maccarone) Nelson passed peacefully on February 1, 2021 in the comfort of his North Providence home surrounded by family. He was born on September 29, 1944 in Fall River, MA, to Victor and Alice (Anderson) Nelson. Raised and educated in Providence, he was a proud graduate of Classical High School, Class of 1962.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he served with courage and valor aboard the USS Grouper during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he enjoyed a decades-long and distinguished career as a Technician with Unisys Corporation in Boston, MA.

Carl was kind, gregarious, and always joking; his sarcasm was sometimes biting but always well-intended, specific, and endearing. Although he will be remembered by most as a man of few words, those who had the pleasure of getting to really know him soon found that he could easily ‘talk your ear off’ – and often did so !

His passions included computers, football ala the New England Patriots, kicking back on the couch with his favorite TV shows, but his greatest was simply hanging out with his cherished grand kids!

Besides his beloved wife, Carl is survived by his children, Leigh Alsfeld of Warwick, Jennifer (husband Peter) Ambrose of Somerset, Michael Nelson of Cranston, and Stephanie (husband Christopher) Romano of Sanford, NC, and his grandchildren, Sydney Alsfeld, Aidan, Aaliyah, and Dante Nelson, and Anthony, Tyler, and Devon Romano.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Berarducci Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Providence.
Services will be private.
