Obituary for Carmelita "Lita" Maloney

Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Carmelita (Lita) Maloney, 54 of Providence, died unexpectedly at Roger Williams General Hospital on March 21st, 2022. She was a cherished daughter of the late Barbara Maguire. She is survived by her devoted children, Michael Martinez of West Warwick, Aric Ablog of Germany and Alana Ablog of West Warwick. Lita is also survived by her beautiful grandson, Dominic and her dear, lifelong friend, Helen Haywood known affectionately as Auntie Helen.

Lita was born in Providence and shortly thereafter she and her mom moved to San Diego where she spent a good part of her young adult life before moving back home to raise her loving family, after college, she became a Phlebotomist, she worked for Quest Diagnostics for many years. She was a smart, beautiful and hardworking mom. A generous and loving person who was, in return, loved by everyone. Lita was easy to get along with, she was a free spirit, with a great sense of humor and a gorgeous smile. She was an artist who loved to draw and loved Rock & Roll. She especially like local bands; Bad Marriage and Greta Van Flat.

She was selfless and caring, a true empath, she could feel other's emotions which gave her great compassion and empathy for others. A spiritual and religious person, her house always had crystals lying about for different energies. She loved being with her family and friends, she loved cooking delicious Filipino dinners and fantastic Christmas feast. Her favorite dishes to make were, her delicious, Chicken Adobo, American Chop Suey along with Lumpia and Pancit.
