Obituary

Obituary for Carol A Reed

Carol A. Reed. 66, of Cumberland passed away, at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, on November 11th, 2019, after a long illness. She was a daughter of the late Arthur and Ann (Stratton) Reed. Carol is survived by her beloved spouse Anne (Bouldry) Reed with whom she kept her home in Cumberland, RI, for many years. She is also survived by her two brothers, Christopher Reed of Cumberland and Cevin Reed of New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her only sister, Cathy Reed. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren along with many friends and relatives by whom she will be sorely missed.

After College, Carol worked for The Foxboro Company in East Bridgewater Ma., as an Electronic Technician for many years, before retiring. Carol’s family came to America on the Mayflower and her family were members of, The American Antiquarian Society, located in Worcester, Massachusetts, a learned society and national research library of pre-twentieth century American history and culture.

She was a loving and caring person, an intellectual who loved the arts and was a member of the Plymouth Players Theater Company, for many years, where she directed, the very popular “Guys and Dolls”. She loved to read, science fiction and fantasy were her favorites. Carol also, loved animals and adored children, her generous nature and warm heart led her to welcome and foster forty-four children in her loving home which, she shared with her spouse and the love of her life, Anne. She was a fantastic cook and was known to whip up delicious, restaurant quality meals of, Chicken Marsala on any given night for her large family. She was an avid Patriots fan, a fantastic vocalist who would often sing at family events and who also, taught Sunday School. A good and caring soul who touched so many hearts and whom through so many good deeds and kind acts will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Carol’s life will be private.
