Our beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather and great, great friend and neighbor, Dana Greenwood, 70, of Providence, passed away on June 3rd, at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted spouse to Barbara Martin. He is also survived by his sons, Corey Medeiros of PA, Damian Frettoloso of Providence, George Greenwood of CT, Frank Greenwood of SC and his daughters, Sabrina Greenwood of Woonsocket, Tabitha Weiss of NY, Melissa Resnick of W. Warwick and Alissa Greenwood of Providence. Dana is survived by one brother, Anthony Greenwood of Providence. He also leaves behind10 beautiful grandchildren. Sadly, he was predeceased by two of his children, Amanda and Ronald and two sisters, Linda and Sandra. He is also survived by his nine cats whom he adored.
Dana was born in Woonsocket, on October 25th 1950, to Albert and Irene (Lamour) Greenwood. After high school he attended trade school and work as a Tool Setter in the Jewelry Industry for most of his life. He worked for Salvatore Tool Ind. for many years before retiring. He was kind and giving, an animal lover who met the love of his life in Barbara Martin with whom he made his life and home, making memories and raising children and grandchildren together for over fifteen years.
Dana was a man's man, he loved tinkering and fixing things, he loved camping at beautiful Burlingame Park with his family, he loved fishing, both fresh and salt water, He had a great personality and perspective on life, he ALWAYS made everyone laugh out loud. We will forever miss his sense of humor which got us through so many times, both good and bad. He was a wonderful spouse, a loving father, doting grandfather and great friend who will be sorely missed, until we meet again. Rest In Peace.
Visitation for Dana, to which family and friends are respectfully invited to attend will be held in the Berarducci Funeral Home, 26 Grove St. Providence on Wednesday, June 9th from 4-6 pm. Burial will be at a later date, at a later date.
