Obituary for Dawn Marie Greene
Our dear Dawn has returned to Heaven, and indeed, this world has lost a truly compassionate angel; may she rest in God’s peace.
Dawn Marie Greene was born in Providence on April 14, 1980 to Russell and the late Donna (Kirk) Greene. Dawn enjoyed childhood in Coventry - especially in the waters of Johnson’s Pond, cavorting with her siblings and others - and was a proud graduate of Coventry High School, Class of 1999. Thereafter, a brief career in the dietary field was interrupted by illness and other issues, enabling her to focus on her life’s true passion of caregiving. Her innate abilities and natural tendencies to protect and minister to others were truly remarkable and her many selfless acts of kindness and compassion benefitted family, friends, and even strangers throughout her too-short lifetime.
A life-long reader and learner, Dawn was an exceptional writer. Not a total bookworm, however, she also loved the outdoors and appreciated nature in all it’s splendor; she was particularly enamored with Rhode Island’s beautiful waters. And there were uncanny similarities between Dawn’s beautiful eyes and the enchantment of the sea: both were crystal clear and ocean blue on good days, but turned much darker and foreboding during ‘stormy’ and difficult times!
Although admittedly somewhat ‘clutsy’ at times, Dawn was quite a dynamic dancer; the faster the beat, the better she liked it and the better she danced! She thoroughly enjoyed and excelled at cooking – her delicious French toast, a specialty! Captivated by Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance, Dawn was known to have had many marathon viewings of “Titanic”.
Above all else, Dawn should be remembered for her thoughtfulness, courageousness, positive attitude, quirky sense of humor, contagious laugh, constant smile, heart of gold, and beautiful soul. Dawn will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by many family members and friends.
In addition to her father in Florida, she is survived by her children, Lex, Kirstiana-Marie, and Tommy Derosiers and their father, Tom, all in Maine; her siblings, Kim (Doug) St. Claire in RI, Jen (John) Johnson in FL, Tom (Chris) Greene in VA, Russell (Jamie) Greene in NY, Rob (Kayla) Greene in PA, Renae Brown (fiancé, Tim) in VA, Kerri Greene in RI, and Bethany Greene in KY; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends elsewhere.
