Obituary for Deborah A Dalton

A beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Deborah A. Dalton, 73, of Cranston, passed peacefully on June 5th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was a cherished daughter of the late Paul Calise Sr. and Mary (Dalton) Calise.

She is survived by her three devoted children, William Melise of East Greenwich, Edward Melise of West Warwick and Nicole Melise of Cranston with whom she made her home; her beloved grandson, Jordan Melise; and her dear Godson, David Thistle of Pawtucket. Also surviving her are her four loving siblings, Freda Thistle of North Kingston, Nancy and Carrie Calise, both of South Carolina, and Paul Calise Jr., of Warwick. She also leaves behind her two special pets, Taco and Bell.

Deb was a compassionate and hardworking woman who found fulfillment in her decades-long career in the healthcare industry. As a young woman, she began her compassionate service as a Candy Striper, caring for hospital patients. Thereafter, she entered state service, devoting herself exclusively to the care of many developmentally disabled individuals for over 40 years before retiring.

Smart, savvy, capable, and accomplished, she had a ‘no-nonsense’ personality, a strong work ethic, and a heart of pure gold. Above all else, Deb was ‘all about family and caring’; her life was dedicated to her children, her patients, and her pets. She was a proud mother who loved her children dearly and unconditionally, and that love extended to her grandson with whom she enjoyed and cherished any time spent.

A compassionate and devoted animal lover, she regularly and generously supported the work of many different animal shelters. She once adopted a favorite Miniature Schnauzer, Maybeline, named for the iconic mascara! Among many other fond memories is one which typifies Deb’s total contentment at home: After a long shift she would relax with Taco and Bell by her side enjoying a favorite dish of ‘delicious’ liver & onions while watching an episode of the Golden Girls. And, like Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia, our own ‘Golden Girl’, Deb, will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all those whose lives she touched. May she now rest in the eternal embrace and peace of the Lord!

In lieu of flowers, the family request any donations be made to the Cranston Animal Shelter, 920 Pheonix Avenue Cranston RI 02921

Burial will be in St Ann's Cemetrry and services for Deborah will be private.
