Obituary for Desiree D Scungio

Desiree Scungio, 55, passed peacefully on April 19 th in the comfort of her Woonsocket home and in the company of her long-time companion, Raymond Pariseau. She undoubtedly took at least a small bag of her favorite candy along with her to share with loved ones with whom she is now reunited in Heaven. Born in Woonsocket on July 14, 1964 to the late Normand Barry and Jeannette (Brodeur) Masse, she was raised in the Fairmount neighborhood and educated in Woonsocket Public Schools. Thereafter, she enjoyed increasingly responsible customer service positions at area Dunkin’ stores, during her long career with that enterprise.

Fondly remembered as a happy-go-lucky homebody, she had a heart of gold, a truly compassionate nature, and a positive and always-welcoming attitude. She thoroughly enjoyed visits from family and friends, completing crossword puzzles and adult coloring books, and dining out at area restaurants. She was an excellent cook with a particular affinity for baking – especially delicious cookies and her renowned ‘middle-of-the- night’ apple pies! Her ‘sweet tooth’ was hereditary and she shared her fondness for ‘candy or anything sweet’ with her siblings, especially her sister. Desiree and Ray provided a safe, loving, and reptile-appropriate home for their adopted tortoise, Timothy, with whom they shared a special bond.

In addition to Raymond, Desiree is survived by her dear son, Brandon Salaices (Christina) and their
children in TN; her sister, Dannette Plante (Brian) of Bristol; her brother, Tris Barry and his family in VA; and several other loved ones elsewhere. She was the mother of the late Austin Piranian and the sister of the late Diane Manton.

Services for Desiree are mandated private due to the current pandemic. Final arrangements are
entrusted to the Berarducci Home & Cremation Care Center, 185 Spring Street, Woonsocket
