Obituary for Frantz Baudouin

Frantz Baudouin, 74, of East Providence passed suddenly and unexpectedly from the loving arms of his family to the eternal embrace of the Lord on Monday, May 18, 2020. Born in Port au Prince, Haiti to Dr. Maurice Baudouin and Francine Charles, he enjoyed childhood and adolescence in a comfortable, loving, and traditional home, courageously leaving there as a young man, driven by opportunity, fueled by ambition, and destined for a multi-faceted career in and around transportation and delivery services, underscored by noble and honest hard work.

Multi-lingual, multi-national, multi-cultural, and multi-talented, Frantz travelled extensively and held a variety of interesting and challenging positions prior to settling in East Providence. As proud as he may have been with his many accomplishments, he remained genuinely humble throughout his life.

He enjoyed a long and proud career as a professional delivery driver for several prestigious carriers including Airborne Express/DHL, Laidlaw Transit, and DeBlois Oil Company from which he retired after many years of dedicated service. Most recently, until interrupted by the pandemic, he was employed as a pedestrian safety officer by the City of East Providence.

A homebody of sorts, he thoroughly enjoyed quality time with family and friends and especially his line-up of Sunday evening television shows which he made a priority to watch with loved ones. A life-long learner and reader, he was a mentor and coach, espousing the philosophy of ‘being true to self’ and ‘never step on Number One’. Staying current on world, national, and local news was important to Frantz and gave him a pulse on people and politics; especially politics! Coupled with a good sense of humor and genuinely caring nature, his helpfulness and demeanor ‘elicited the good spirit’ from most and endeared him to many.

Respectful and kind, he was a true gentleman and gentle man. While he may not have won nearly as often as he played his favorite Lottery numbers - as he so loved to do – he did always win the trust, respect, and admiration of those around him and imparted a quiet wisdom for which he will be sorely missed but fondly remembered.

He leaves his beloved wife of 52 years, Nancy (Tabor) Baudouin, his loving daughter, Andrea Baudouin of East Providence, his step-son, Michael Wallace of Gainsville, FL, and three grandchildren, Darian Wallace and Norelle Gomes of East Providence, and Jayden in Florida. He is also survived by his siblings: Olive, Maude, Kettly, Murielle, Nicole, Sonia, Claude, Bernard, Serge, Adeler, and Eddy, his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Blue, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including members of the Cauvin family. He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, Carole, Marie-Terese, Michaeline, Mireille, and Jean, and his step-son, David Wallace.

Due to pandemic restrictions, services are private.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Berarducci Home & Cremation Care Center, Providence.
