Obituary for Gabrielle Lefrancois

Gabrielle (Coffey) Lefrancois of Blackstone, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Lydia Taft House, Uxbridge, MA, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 3, 1928 in Blackstone to the late James H. and Viola (Archambault) Coffey, she was married to the late Edgar J. O. Lefrancois and was the devoted mother of John M.“Jack” Lefrancois, Gaybe Ann Hamel and her husband Rene, and Esther M. Boucher and her husband Gerald, all of Blackstone. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas E. Lefrancois and her sister Esther Pisaruk. Affectionately revered as “Angel Gabrielle” by all who knew and loved her, she also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who she absolutely adored!

She was one of the first police matrons in the Town of Blackstone and served under Chief James Ryan. She was co-owner of Lefrancois and Sons’ Waste Paper and Rubbish Removal and also served as the Telephone Operator and Receptionist at the St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield for over 40 years, retiring at the age of 87. Capable, caring, charming, and kind, she was the smiling face who greeted every resident, visitor, and colleague with dignity, compassion, and class. Always stylishly dressed, perfectly coiffed, and tastefully adorned, she was truly “the face of St. Antoine’s” for many years and endeared herself to all those she encountered; she will be sorely missed by those whose lives she touched!

In her spare time, she enjoyed making floral arrangements and thoroughly enjoyed traveling throughout the New England area, especially summers on ‘the Cape’ and in Kennebunkport, Maine. She was an avid New England Sports fan and enjoyed attending all the ball games, BMR marching band shows, and hockey and skating competitions in which any of her family members participated. Most of all, Gabrielle loved her family and loved providing her “Goodies” at all the family gatherings throughout the years.

Calling hours were held on Saturday, June 26 th at 10:15a.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Blackstone followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. with burial immediately following in the Parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to St. Paul’s Church, Stained Glass Window Restoration Fund.
