Obituary for Gail Manzo

Gail Manzo, 66, beloved daughter of Joseph Manzo of North Providence and the late Joan (Soucie) Manzo passed peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital after a period of declining health. A proud graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Class of 1972, Gail enjoyed a happy home life and outside employment both of which were interrupted by illness.

A vibrant resident of the Elmhurst Rehabilitation & Health Care Community since 2010, Gail enjoyed engaging in many activities and interactions. She was keenly interested in current events through her daily discussions and reading of the Providence Journal. With a keen eye for fashion and finery (make-up, hair and nail care, a must!), an ear for music (and the other one for Tony Bennett tunes), and feet for dancing, Gail also loved flowers, anything purple, and all things pretty!

Socially gifted - never distanced - she truly enjoyed and appreciated all with whom she came into contact, and endeared herself to many, especially her family, friends, and fellow Elmhurst community members. Gail (and her family) would want the entire Elmhurst team to be thanked and applauded for their outstanding and continuous care and compassion throughout her residency there during these past several years. She had a particular affinity for the fine folks on Unit 6 and for her advocate, Heather, with whom she shared a special bond.

Faithful and faith filled, Gail was a devout Catholic, praying the Rosary daily and attending holy mass as often as possible. She looked forward to her frequent reception of the Eucharist, Bible study classes, and friendly visits from Chaplain Jim and the wonderful ministers from the Providence Churches of St. Augustine and St. Pius V. In her earlier years she was an active parishioner and communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, also in Providence.

Gail was all about family and family times together. As a loving sister to the late Lori Masserone, she embraced Lori’s children, niece Jessica and nephew Stephen, and their children: Olivia, Jacob, Sophia, and Stephen, all of North Providence. Annual family outings at Goddard Memorial Park and weekly Saturday night dinners at the former Mainelli’s Restaurant were among her favorites. Gail will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by many.

Services for Gail are mandated to be private, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at a future date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Berarducci Home & Cremation Care Center.
