Obituary for Jack Khamdam

A dear husband, brother, father, and friend is gone too soon. Jack Khamdam, 65, of Woonsocket, passed away unexpectedly on January 6th, 2021 at Landmark Medical Center.

Born on January 1, 1956 in Savannakhet, Laos, he was the son of the late Kham and Luam Phomvongsa. Raised there together with his brother and sister, Phong and Tong Phomvongsa, who survive him, he was married at a young age to Douangmanechanh Mongkhonvilay (now deceased) with whom he had three children.

He moved to the US in the late 1980s for a better life, and then met and fell in love with his beloved wife, Seng (Champaphonevilay), whom he married after only having dated for a few months.

Industrious and hard-working, Jack enjoyed a decades-long career in the manufacturing industry as a production professional, having been employed at Comtran, LLC for many years and later at General Cable for over 10 years. Most recently he served as a machine operator at Jem Electronics Company.

When not working, Jack loved to eat, watch movies, work on his car, workout, and go fishing, probably in that order! He also took great pride and pleasure in owning and riding his two motorcycles, and was a proud member of the Laotian Association of Rhode Island. Most of all, he treasured any time spent with family and with his pet bunny named Baby, who just recently passed away. An engaging, endearing, and very well-liked and respected man, Jack will be fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Besides his wife and siblings, Jack is survived by his children, Anjila and Jeffrey Khamdam of Woonsocket; Phoukham Nhotharack in Kansas; Khamsing Mongkhonvilay in Missouri; and Tou Khamdam in Laos.

Visitation and Services for Jack will be held on Monday, January 11th in the Berarducci Home, 185 Spring Street, Woonsocket. Due to Covid-19, visitation is limited to the immediate family. Condolences to the family may be expressed here on this site.
