Obituary for Jennie Filomena Castore

Our dear mother, grandmother, and friend, Jennie Filomena Castore, 90, of Providence, passed peacefully in the comfort of her home on January 27th, 2022. She was born on April 28th, 1931, a daughter of Domenico and Clementina (Volpe) DiBenedetto. She is survived by her devoted children, David Castore of Providence, with whom she resided, Dominic Castore and his wife, Lenore, of Coventry, Patricia Rathier of Providence, Janet Dutcher of Austin, TX, and Debbie Castore and her spouse, Joel, of Whitewater, WI. She is also survived by her four beautiful grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Jennie was predeceased by her sister, Natalina (Nellie) Parisi, and her brother, Charles DiBenedetto.

Jennie was raised in a loving and traditional Italian home in Providence and attended city schools. Shortly after high school graduation, she began working at various jobs, eventually leading to her twenty-year career of dedicated and proud service with the Quill Pen Company, from which she retired 20 years ago.

She married her beloved Pasco “Pat” Castore and together they raised and enjoyed their beautiful family until his sad passing. Jennie was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a wonderful homemaker who instilled love, family values, and an old-fashioned work ethic in her family. In addition, as a devout Catholic, she raised her kids in the Catholic faith, and 'practiced what she preached'.

She had a passion and flair for her outstanding cooking, made most enjoyable for her while listening to her favorite music by Billy Joel and the Rolling Stones! To her family's delight, she consistently spoiled them with all the traditional Italian favorites and her many specialties. She particularly loved hosting family and holiday gatherings at her home. She will always be remembered as our kind and loving angel, and most especially for her absolutely beautiful smile and soul to match! Rest in peace, dear Jennie, until we meet again.

Her Mass of Christian Burial, to which family and friends are respectfully invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, February 12th, 2022, at 10 am in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston Street, Cranston, with burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery immediately following.

St. Mary’s Parish requests that face masks be worn by all attendees. Adherence and cooperation with all COVID-19 precautions will be sincerely appreciated by the Parish and the family.
