Obituary for Jennie Marie Penta (Bucci)

Jennie Marie (Bucci) Penta, 90, of Smithfield, formerly of Providence, went home to the lord, December 7th, 2020. A daughter of the late Americo and Philomoena (D’Andrea) Bucci. She was the devoted wife to the late George (Georgie) Penta. She is survived by her two sisters, Phyllis Achille of North Providence and Lena Bucci of Providence. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews. Jennie was predeceased by her sister Rose Lansing.

Born in Providence, Jennie was a lifelong Rhode Islander; she graduated Mt. Pleasant High School before continuing to College. On November 11th, 1961 at 10am, in Blessed Sacrament Church, Jennie married the love of her life with whom she spent decades making happy and loving memories. She loved spending time with all her nieces and nephews whom she adored. She loved to cook her favorite Italian specialties for them along with all her family and friends. Italian Wedding Soup was always on the stove and it was everyone’s favorite along with many other Italian specialties.

Jennie was a beautiful, sweet and lovely woman. She was known for her dedication and hard work, her cooking, sense of humor and honesty, “Honest to a Fault’ as some would describe but, that was Jennie, sweet, kind and honest with always a good bowl of hot soup for comfort. For many years Jennie worked at the immensely popular, Harold’s Furniture Store, in Providence before retiring. During retirement, she enjoyed her friends and was a regular at the Johnston Senior Center where she would spend many days simply visiting or chatting with friends, sharing a meal or catching up on current events and the activity around the town.

Services for Jennie have been entrusted to the care of the Berarducci Homes; Services for Jennie will be private.
