Obituary for Joan Maria Arnold (Cavaco)

A beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Joan Maria (Cavaco) Arnold, 73 of North
Providence, passed peacefully in the comfort of her home on April 27 th , 2021, surrounded by her loving
family. She was a daughter of the late Manuel Da Costa and Idalina (Cabral) Cavaco.

Joan was a special person to all those whose paths she crossed and will be especially remembered for
her outgoing personality and her always-present big, beautiful smile which she shared with everyone
she met. She had a unique gift of being able to make people feel good – family, friends, and even
strangers – which served her well throughout her career, endearing her to many over the years.
Although she thoroughly enjoyed her work, colleagues, and co-workers at the restaurant she managed
for several years in Foxboro, MA, she was happiest when she was able to fully focus on bringing up
Vanessa and James, as her mantra and passion was always “family first”.

A prayerful, faithful, and faith-filled woman, she was a devout Catholic and attended churches in
Attleboro and Providence. She also loved the outdoors, traveling throughout the country and cooking
for a crowd of family and friends at every stop. Conversely, whenever the grandchildren (and even their
friends) visited Joan’s home, it was she, affectionately known as ‘Vovo’, that everyone wanted to see
first!

She is survived by her beloved spouse, Gary Arnold; her devoted son, Brandon Sita of North Providence;
brothers, Joseph Cavaco of Come By Chance, NL Canada, and Manuel Cavaco of North Attleboro, MA;
her sister, Grace (Cavaco) Burek, of Atlanta, GA; and her cherished grandchildren, Vanessa and James Sita and Ellis, Eliot, Wyatt, and Gweneth Codd. Rest in peace Joan and thank you for your love!

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Berarducci Funeral Home. Services for Joan will be private. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to leave condolences at Providencecremation.com
