Kevin J. O’Connor
In loving memory of Kevin Joseph O’Connor, who passed away weeks before his 73rd birthday, and is the son of the late William J. O’Connor, and the late Virginia O’Connor (nee Lockwood). Kevin was born in New York, NY where he lived until about age 10, when the family moved to the New Jersey suburban town of Willingboro. He graduated from JFK High School in 1966, and went on to earn a BA in History from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia in 1971.
Kevin was smart, witty, and had a great sense of humor. Despite his lifelong struggle with mental illness after college, he lived every day on his own terms, steadfast and resolute in forging ahead in this world. Time spent with family included his late mother Virginia, and brother, Bill, who provided a beacon of support when needed. We are grateful for the kind and caring staff at the shelter in Cranston, RI, as well as Catholic Charities in NY.
He is survived by his sister, Kathy Hansen, (nee O’Connor) (Pete), his brothers, Daniel O’Connor, and Bill O’Connor (Marcos Amarol), and his daughters, Maureen Shea (nee O’Connor), and Marybeth Bernstein (nee O’Connor) (Greg), and grandchildren, Meghan, Allison, Zoe, and Owen. He is also survived by nephews and nieces, Jim, Jonathon, Lisa, Jessica, and their children.
Interment will be held privately. As Catholic Charities in Syracuse was instrumental to Kevin’s well-being, please send any gifts as donations to them.
