Obituary for Laurie Round

Our dear sister, aunt, and friend, Laurie W. Round, R.N., 73, of Warwick, RI passed into eternal life at Rhode Island Hospital on Sunday, February 6th, 2022 following a courageous struggle with MG and related COVID-19 complications.

Born in Pawtucket, RI, on August 9, 1948 to the late Ernest and Anna (Przbieglec) Wojnar, Laurie was raised in Warwick and was a proud graduate of Pilgrim High School, Class of 1966, and later received her nursing degree from Roger Williams School of Nursing in Providence, RI. She spent most of her professional career as a dedicated and conscientious inspector of nursing and health care facilities in and for the State of Rhode Island, retiring from the Department of Health.

Together with her late husband, Charles S. Round, they enjoyed 15 years of sea breezes, sailing, and socializing with wonderful friends while living in Key West, Florida before returning to Warwick in 2019, following Chuck's untimely passing. They will be fondly remembered by all those with whom they became acquainted, endeared, and befriended.

Laurie was fun-loving, kind-hearted, and extremely generous; she loved country music - especially 'local' bands - and was a strong advocate for animal rights and kindness.

In addition to her parents and husband, Laurie was predeceased by her brother Daniel, and is survived by her siblings, Ernestine 'Tina' Jowdry in Georgia and Ernest W. Wojnar, Jr., of Warwick, RI; her brothers-in-law, Donald (wife, Wilma), Michael, Steven, and Philip Round; a sister-in-law, Nancy Haley; and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

An outdoor Memorial Gathering in Rhode Island is being planned for the Spring of 2022; details will be announced at a later date. Meanwhile, memorial donations may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America [mgfa@myasthenia.org], 290 Turnpike Road, Suite 5-315, Westborough, MA 01581.

Funeral and cremation arrangements are in the care of the Berarducci Home in Providence. Memories and condolences may be left at [providencecremation.com]
