Our dear Lois, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed peacefully into the embrace of her Lord on Friday, May 8, 2020 at her home, surrounded by family. Born in Lynn, MA, on March 27, 1954, she was raised in Pawtucket, RI, where she enjoyed childhood and attended public schools. It was there that she began her career as a hard- working production assistant in various capacities, most notably in the manufacturing of gas masks for a government contractor. A long-time Pawtucket resident, she was also a server and bartender in area establishments until her service was interrupted by an accidental disablement.
Lois’ middle initial should have been ‘B’, as she loved beauty, birds, bargains, beachcombing, bingo, batting, baking, and babies. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature –trees, flowers, creatures, and the waters. Always on the lookout for a bargain at bazaars and penny socials, she expanded her searches to the underground through her metal detection expeditions at various beaches and hunting grounds, especially on Block Island. There and elsewhere she spent many enjoyable hours searching for and often finding myriad buried treasures such as coins, bits of gold, jewelry, etc. An avid bingo player, she was also a talented sewer and seamstress, clever crafter, and awesome baker. She will be especially remembered for her delicious pin rolls, always presented with love and pride at all family gatherings and special events.
Above all else, Lois loved spending quality time with family especially her two youngest grandchildren, Ember and Jaxon, with whom she absolutely adored and shared a very special and unique bond. Nothing pleased her more than being in their company and spoiling them beyond measure.
Lois leaves her devoted son and his wife, James “Jimmy” and Heather O’Connor of Woonsocket; siblings, Keith, Charlotte, Betty, and Stephanie; cherished grandchildren, Jaxon and Ember O’Connor and Samantha Humes; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends by whom she will sorely missed but fondly remembered.
Due to current pandemic restrictions, services are being planned for a future date at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pawtucket. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Berarducci Home & Cremation Care Center, Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in trust for her grandchildren may be sent to the O’Connor residence, 44 Monty Avenue, Woonsocket, RI, 02895.
