OBITUARY FOR LORAINE BROWN
A good woman and worker, wonderful mother, grandmother, friend, and life-long Woonsocket resident is suddenly gone. Loraine Brown, 79, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 1, 2021, at Woonsocket Health Center, after experiencing a whirl-wind of health issues.
Born on July 3, 1941 to James and Angelina (Blouin) Brown, she was raised in a traditional Franco-American home, educated in Woonsocket Public Schools, and earned an Associates’ degree at Bryant College (now University).
Dedicated, determined, and hard-working all of her life, Loraine enjoyed her various employment experiences and many co-workers. She was an Executive Secretary for many years at the former Northern RI Community Mental Health Center and later served as a caregiver and guardian at several of the agency’s group homes. She was also a skilled stitcher in the area’s textile industry, having been employed by Needlecraft, Inc. and ultimately retiring from Tytec in the early 2000’s.
Among Lorraine’s favorite activities were computer games, game and reality TV shows, dining out and travelling throughout beautiful New England, and any time spent with family.
Mourning Loraine’s passing are her loyal daughters, Melissa Brown of Woonsocket and Linda Santos of Pawtucket; her cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Brihanna, and Erica Brown and Justine Santos; and her dear friend, Jackie Cassidy. She also leaves a brother, William Brown in Louisiana and was predeceased by her beloved son, Mark Brown, and just recently, her loving grandson, Nathan (Nate) Hunt who died tragically in October, 2020.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Berarducci Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, 185 Spring Street, Woonsocket where VISITATON HAS BEEN SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, MARCH 17th BEGINNING AT 9:00 a.m. followed by COMMITTAL SERVICES AT 10:30 a.m. at St. Jean-Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham, MA.
A dual celebration of life for Loraine and Nate will be scheduled and held when it is safe for all to gather.
