Obituary for Maurice Thurman

Maurice Thurman, 54, of Pawtucket died tragically on July 3rd, at Rhode Island Hospital from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Born in Chicago to Ethel (Fowlkes) and Willie James Thurman Sr., he is survived by his loving wife Marlena Gonzales and their son Marquel. He is also survived by his son Michael Thurmon, four daughters, Michelle Spano and Maureen Thurmon of Cranston, Renee Perkins of Utah, and Kiwana Brown of Chicago; his brothers, Willie James Jr., and David Thurman of Chicago, and Reginald Thurman of Iowa, and his sisters; Kimberly Jackson of California and Valerie Ann Williams of Iowa.

Maurice was a hard-working laborer in the construction industry and most recently employed by Tradesman International in Cranston. His highest priority and passion was his family who now mourn his untimely passing. He loved life and family and was a grill master extraordinaire, known especially for his ribs. A seafood lover and all 'round foodie, he was an avid sports fan, supporting the Chicago-based teams including the Bulls and White Sox. He also loved his Denver Broncos and enjoyed local baseball games with his family at McCoy Stadium. A motorcycle enthusiast, he was proud of his Harley Davidson “Fat Boy” and endeared himself to scores of fellow bikers.


Visitation will be held in the Berarducci Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Providence, Monday evening from 4-6pm. Funeral Services will be 10 am Tuesday at the funeral home followed by, burial in North Burial Ground Cemetery, 5 Branch Avenue Providence, at 11 am
