Our beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, is gone too soon! Philip Hamric of Cumberland, RI, was a great humanitarian who had a good and generous heart. Selfless beyond words, he did wonderful work for the Lions Club of Abington, MA, the Million Penny Project, and never turned down an opportunity to help a friend or family in need.
One of the funniest guys one could ever meet, Phil had an amazing (and sometimes silly) sense of humor which enabled him to make anyone laugh and endeared him to many. He loved the humor of Joan Rivers and believed that “life does not cease to be funny when people die, any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh”!
Socially engaged – NEVER distanced - he will be sorely missed at special family gatherings including ‘scratching sessions’ of Christmas Lottery tickets (he always bought the big ones!); games of Canasta, Poker, and others; trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Mohegan Sun, and Aruba; and at home, by his feline friends who revered him as their ‘Cat Dad’.
He was the owner and operator of Timber Lanes and Squire’s Loft Lounge in Abington, MA, for many years and was a true advocate and champion for the sport of Candlepin bowling. He was an avid collector of Swarovski crystal, enjoyed his private pilot’s license, and once played the role of ‘reverend-for-a-day’ to perform a marriage ceremony for his sister!
Born and raised in Medford, MA, he was a son of the late Robert and Ann (Small) Hamric, he leaves his loyal and loving siblings, Paul Hamric in Utah, David Hamric in Watertown, MA, and Diane Hamric-Hatstat, and a dear niece in Upton, MA.
