RHONDA CUSTIS OBITUARY

Rhonda Custis, 54, wife of Craig Custis, passed peacefully on October 20, 2022 at Hope Hospice in Providence. A Newport resident and formerly of Providence, Rhonda was an ‘almost Christmas baby’, born in Cambridge, MA, on December 22, 1967, to Ronald Clarke and Dorothy E. Garner.

Rhonda was a peaceful soul with a generous heart and strong personality. Honest and compassionate ‘to a fault’, her giving and caring nature often led her to family, friends, the homeless, and complete strangers in need to whom she’d provide assistance and comfort; she’ll always be remembered for her selfless and random acts of kindness. She was a valued member of the Heatherwood community in which lived.

She also had a passion for music – jazz, soul, rap, and even some country – and she loved the holidays, especially Christmas (obviously), and all related preparations including the gift wrapping, most of all! Family times were of paramount importance to her and she enjoyed cooking and baking for loved ones; her homemade barbeque sauce and pineapple upside-down cake were outstanding and house favorites!

In addition to her husband, Rhonda is survived by her children, Craig (Jessica) Garner and Louis Custis, both of Providence, and Cynthia Bailey, of Denver, CO; her sisters, Faith Garner, of Boston, Danyell Garner, of Brockton, and Barbara Fickett in Arizona; four cherished grandchildren, Jayden & Jordan Caplis, and Aiden & Roman Garner; and three nieces, Dominique Lane, Charmaine Garner, and Skyla Felt-Garner.

Services for Rhonda are respectfully private; arrangements are entrusted to the Berarducci Home & Cremation Care Center, Providence. Condolences and memories may be left at [providencecremation.com] Rest in peace, Rhonda!
