Obituary for Rita Fargnoli

RITA R. FARGNOLI

Our dear sister and aunt, Rita R. “Dee” Fargnoli passed peacefully into eternal life at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital on December 13th, after a period of declining health. A life-long resident of Providence, she was born on February 20, 1935, to the late Enrico “Harry” and Carmella (Lepore) Fargnoli and raised in a traditional and loving Italo-American home together with her seven siblings.

Fiercely independent and highly capable, Rita was blessed with determination, confidence, and an old-fashioned work ethic typical of ‘those days’, she enjoyed a decades-long and successful career in the food service and hospitality industry, especially enjoying her labors and co-workers at the former Providence Biltmore Hotel and the storied East-side Hope Club from which she retired.

Just as she was revered in her professional career as one who carried out her duties with efficiency and a touch of class, so, too, was she revered on the home front as an expert gardener; in addition, Dee was always helpful to anyone with pretty much anything and even assisted family with a variety of home improvement projects.
Always content being single and a bit of a ‘home body’, she treasured time spent with the various and assorted pets she adopted over the years. An avid sports fan, especially of the New England-based teams, she was also quite fond of shopping most anywhere! Her simplicity of living and her unique blend of sweetness, independence, tenacity, and spunk will be her legacy.

Mourning Rita’s passing are her brothers Edward (wife Rita) Fargnoli, of North Providence and Robert (wife Leslie) of Venice, FL; her sister, Flora Rioles of Providence, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are brother-/sisters-in-law, Walter Rezendes, Elaine Fargnoli, and Dolores Fargnoli of Johnston with whom she shared a special bond. She was predeceased by her brothers Anthony and Enrico “Rick” Fargnoli; her sisters Pauline Rezendes and Ann Corbin; and her long-time companion, Bill.

Due to the pandemic, services and burial for Rita will be private. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a date and time to be announced at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Johnston, when family and friends may more safely attend.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Berarducci Home & Cremation Care Center in Providence. Condolences may be left at [ProvidenceCremation.com].
