Obituary for Roger E. Paul
Following a courageous battle with Cancer and a period of painful and rapidly declining health about which he never complained, Roger E. Paul passed from the arms of his loving family into the embrace of the Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2020, in the comfort of his Mohegan home. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Roger was a dedicated family man, expert craftsman, flag-flying and loyal-to-the-core American patriot, car enthusiast, and avid biker. He had a good and generous heart and was always there to help a friend or family member with a project of any kind.
Born and raised in Manville, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marie (Lussier) Paul and a brother to the late Rita (Paul) Hickey. Roger possessed an old-fashioned work ethic, his roots emanating from a traditional Franco-American home. He was employed as a union carpenter/contractor and was a perfectionist who took great pride in his work and was the happiest when he was building something. He was a proud member of the Rhode Island Carpenters Union, Local 330, for 58 years.
Roger was ‘all about family’ and enjoyed any time spent with his children and grandchildren, especially grandson Cody with whom he shared an incredible bond. Roger could often be found at car shows near-by and throughout New England with Pauline by his side in their pristine 1955 Mercury convertible. He was one of only a few remaining members of the former Rolling Zephyrs Car Club and a long-time member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Motorcycle Club. He’ll be sorely missed but fondly remembered by the many whose paths he crossed.
Besides is his wife of 60 years, Pauline (Menard) Paul, Roger leaves his son and daughter, Rick Paul (wife Carol) and Deena Lovell (husband Kole), all of Nasonville. He was predeceased by his daughter, Donna. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Amanda Verdo, Anthony Elgar, and Cody Paul; great -grandchildren, Arianna, Isabella, and Julianna Verdo, and Angelina Elgar; and several nieces and nephews.
