Obituary for Rosa M Irizarry

“To know her was to love her”. Our sweet Rosa passed into eternal life on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 in Providence, RI. She was 72 years of age at the time of her passing. Born to parents Margarita Rios and Francisco Irizarry in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on August 30, 1947, she was a proud graduate of Carmen Bozello de Hyuke High School, Class of 1966. During her time in Puerto Rico, Rosa served as a dedicated member of the nuclear medicine administrative team at the former ‘Hospital DeArea’ in Guayama for several years prior to relocating to Rhode Island.

Family oriented and deeply religious, Rosa loved nothing more than spending quality time with family and friends and found solace and peace in frequent prayer and church services. She was a communicant and active parishioner of St. Charles (“San Carlos”) Borromeo Church in Providence, where she endeared herself to many. She also enjoyed traveling, crafting, and cooking, especially preparing family dinners with her special ingredient of selfless love. A compassionate, caring, and loving woman, Rosa always put others before herself, enabling her to be a most devoted mother, grandmother, family member, and friend.

She is survived by her devoted sons, Jose (wife, Sol) Correa and Carlos (wife, Edith) Correa; her cherished grandchildren, Carolyn, Omayraliz, and Jose A. Correa; her dear siblings, Carmen, Evelyn, and Francisco Irizarry; and her beloved companion of 32 wonderful years, Anselmo Devarie; and many other relatives and friends who will sorely miss and fondly remember her.

Due to the current pandemic restrictions, services for Rosa are being planned for a future date. In the meantime, the family would appreciate kind thoughts and prayers for Rosa’s intentions.

Memorial contributions to St. Charles’ Church in Rosa’s honor would be appreciated. Arrangements are entrusted to the Berarducci Home & Cremation Care Center in Providence.
