Obituary for Steven Keith DeFusco

On June 15, 2019, Steven K. De Fusco, 62, of Pawtucket and formerly of Providence, died unexpectedly of respiratory failure due to complications of a severe strain of pneumonia at the Miriam Hospital with family by his side. He was born in Providence on December 15, 1956 to the late Gaetano and Margaret (De Angelis) De Fusco and enjoyed childhood in the historic Federal Hill neighborhood. Always positive, friendly, and easy going, Steven was regarded as a hard worker but a gentle soul and he endeared himself to many along his all-too-short journey here with us. He will also be remembered for being a kind owner and caregiver to several canine companions throughout his lifetime.

Steven was employed by the Stop & Shop grocery chain as a stock clerk and market assistant and later by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence as a cemetery laborer and landscaper. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Bruins fan, and, to the chagrin of many, an equally avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan!

Mourning his untimely passing are his dear brother, Thomas and his wife, Melissa, and their daughter, Sierra De Fusco. He is also survived by his long-time and loyal friend, Anthony Montiero. Steven was the former husband of Katherine Anthony who predeceased him.

Services and inurement plans for Steven are incomplete at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Berarducci Home & Cremation Care Center in Providence.

Memorial donations in Steven’s name to any charity of one’s choice would be very much appreciated.
