Obituary for Thomas Gene Joint

Our dear son, brother, and friend, Thomas Gene Joint, 57, of Johnston, passed peacefully in the comfort of his home on July 1st, 2021. He was a beloved son of Tommie E. and Maureen (Shults) Joint. He is also survived by his loyal and loving siblings; brother, Timothy E. Joint of North Kingston, and sisters, Cynthia L. Helm of Hanahan SC, Sandra L. Johnson of Goose Creek SC, and Serena L. Ash of Ladson SC, and other relatives and friends.

Tom graduated from East Greenwich High School, and enjoyed his thirty-plus-years' career as a dedicated caregiver to disabled and challenged individuals at FOCUS. Compassionate and hard working, he endeared himself to scores of clients, colleagues, and all with whom he interacted in both his professional and personal circles.

He was a bright and handsome artist who loved to paint, draw, and travel. He was always fun to be with and his passion for travel often brought him such places as Key West, FL, Cape Cod and Provincetown, MA, and a variety of piano bars, 'speak easys', and other favorite places. He loved Rhode Island most of all, especially the art districts, the fine dining, and the theaters. He amassed a large and vast collection of unique antique toys and comic books during his travels of which he was very proud.

When at home, he enjoyed watching movies - comedies, mostly - or listening to classical music while preparing any of several favorite meals. Tom simply and thoroughly loved life and all it had to offer; his presence, smile, and laughter will be sorely missed but always remembered.

Services for Tom will be private.
