Obituary for Thomas F. Parent
Thomas F. Parent, 66, of Riverside, passed away unexpectedly, January 29th, at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was a beloved son of Gloria R. Lemire and the late Thomas L. Parent.
A lifelong resident of Riverside, Tom was a hardworking family man with a great personality and heart to match. He was the rock of our family, always there for everyone. An outdoorsman at heart, Tom met the love of his life at a fishing tournament, immediately smitten, Donna and Tom then dated and married. Tom worked as a Maintenance Boiler Technician for 28 years for St. Mary’s Bay View Academy in Riverside. When he was not working, he was an outdoorsman who loved sports, camping, fishing and cookouts with his family. He often spent time with his family camping at Burlingame State Park where he was the Grill Master and Smoke Master at every cookout. His expertise was being able to cook many different foods at once and having everything cooked to perfection every time!
At home, Tom loved to watch football and baseball with family and friends. To relax, he absolutely loved rerun episodes of MASH and the Three Stooges which he loved watching best, with his loyal Shepherds, Simba and Nala who were always at his feet and Linc the cat nearby. He will be missed in so many ways, whether, at the grill, on the boat, at our family gatherings and holidays, until we meet again, rest in peace.
He leaves behind his devoted wife and best friend Donna (Mathos) Parent and two children, Stephen Balcewicz of Maine and Sharon Balcewicz of Riverside, RI. He also leaves two brothers, Steve Parent of Warwick RI, Bob Parent of Florida and two sisters, Lorraine Fowler of Warwick RI and Mary Nakooka of Hawaii. Four beautiful grandchildren and one great-grandchild along with many nieces and nephews, friends and relatives especially Aunts’ Barbara and Pat, all by whom he will be sorely missed.
Arrangements for Thomas will be private. Friends and relatives may leave a condolence for his family.
