Obituary for William Joseph Ruggieri
Our father and friend, William Joseph “Bill” Ruggieri of Providence, passed peacefully into eternal life on Friday, May 29, 2020 at RI Hospital.
Born in Providence, he was raised and educated in Rhode Island prior to founding his own business early in his career. Ruggieri Construction Company of Barrington, with Bill at its helm, built several houses throughout the East Bay area and elsewhere for many years. In addition to his affinity for carpentry and construction, Bill loved the outdoors, being especially enamored with the awe of the oceans. He also thoroughly enjoyed duck hunting and salt water fishing. To complement his hunting hobby, Bill was a noted breeder of prized Labrador Retrievers.
His son described Bill as a “strong, driven, and happy-go-lucky kind of guy who could always get
the attention of a room and bring a smile to your face; he would help anybody that asked him”. His unique brand of kindness and laughter will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by many.
He is survived by his mother, Silvia Ruggieri in Rhode Island; his son, William T. Ruggieri in Tennessee; his daughters, Natalie Ruggieri in Florida, and Jessica Ruggieri and her daughter in
Rhode Island; and many friends. The mother of his children also survives him.
Services for Bill will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Bill’s honor to a charity of
one’s choice would be appreciated.
