Obituary for Edith Rose

Edith J. Rose, also known as Bitsy, age 74 of Douglas Manor, North Providence peacefully passed away at Rhode Island Hospital on June 24, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Manuel and Dorothy (Matthews) Rose. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Toni and Terri Rose; eight grandchildren, Jamane, Charon, Jamie, Jamal, and Jessica Rose, Michael Jahkai Lassiter, Dwayne Corprew-Rose, and Maritsa Cruz; and seven great-grandchildren. Edith was the sister of Manuel Rose, Thomas Rose and the late George Harris. She also leaves to cherish her memory four nieces, two nephews as well as great-nieces, great-nephews, first cousins, and friends.

Edith was a home childcare provider in Providence for over 20 years, as well as a foster parent, and impacted many children’s lives and their families. She was an active member of her community and fought for civil rights for the underprivileged. She loved the Lord, was a woman of great faith, and a partner at The King’s Cathedral Church. Edith was a woman who was loving, kind, caring, “said what she meant and meant what she said”, full of wisdom and a heart of gold. She loved her family and friends and was a pleasure to all who knew her. She will be missed dearly.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 30th, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at The King’s Cathedral, 1860 Westminster Street, Providence.
