Obituary for Gloria Heisler

Gloria Heisler
Gloria Heisler, 89 of Providence passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 3rd, 2017. She was a daughter of the late Florence (Nane) Simmons, beloved wife of the late W. Chris Heisler, loving mother of Jill Heisler and her husband Joseph Stand of Florida, Walter Heisler, and the late Jack Heisler,

Gloria taught English at SK Jr., High for many years. She and Chris opened their hearts and home for the URI foreign students then traveled around the world to meet their families. They were also the biggest fans of URI Rams, especially the women’s basketball.

Gloria was a devoted Democrat and a force for Women’s Rights. She worked and supported tirelessly to promote the causes for underprivileged girls and women. She and Chris were best remembered for their generosities and passions for helping everyone who was in need throughout their lives. They were the role models for many who have known them and met them.

To their dear families and friends, we shall forever be grateful for knowing them. The family would like to thank her caregivers Barbara Marceau and Laurel Gaylord for the love and caring for Gloria. I would also like to thank Helen Mao for being a special friend to our family.

Donations can be made in Gloria’s name to the NEA Children’s Fund, the URI Foundation or Hospice of RI. I’m sure my mother would add Go Rhody Rams!

A Memorial Service for Gloria to which friends and relatives will be invited will be held in the spring and the exact dare will be updated to this site when it is confirmed.
